Cambree's 1st Day with Kaleb at School

Cambree was excited about Kaleb's first day of school. She was a little nervous walking to the bus because she just clung to me. She really liked getting to go with me to Kaleb's school and to see his classroom. When Cambree and I got home, we decided to make him a treat for when he got off the bus. So we made a batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies.


After that, Cambree built a castle for her Princesses. Our morning went SO FAST! We did a few other things (clean, etc - nothing else blog worthy!

We went outside to wait for Kaleb to get off the bus. Grandpa Ron brought home some cattails for Cambree the other day so we took them outside with us while we were waiting.

Cambree did a "talent show" for me that consisted of a couple somersaults and laying on the grass and then we saw the bus coming down the road. She was a little disappointed because we didn't have much time to play. I reminded her we have lots of days that Kaleb will be at school so we'll have time to play while he's gone.

Kaleb's 1st Day of Kindergarten

Today was Kaleb's first day of Kindergarten. He started to get really nervous last night but when he woke up this morning to his new Spongebob alarm clock, he was ready to go!

He wanted to ride the bus, so Cambree and I walked him to the bus and sent him on his way.


Cambree and I drove to the school to meet him there and when he got off the bus at the school, he would not talk. The nerves had official set in! We went to his classroom and met his teacher, Mrs. Smith.

This is her first year teaching so she is very excited. She gave him his name tag and his box of supplies and had him go find his name at the table. She started them out on their first project which was glueing cereal on a piece of paper next to numbers (1 cereal by #1, 2 cereal by #2, etc)

Within about 3 minutes, I asked Kaleb if he wanted us to stay or if we were okay to leave and he said we could leave. When he got home he told us all about his day. He said the best part was riding the bus.

He brought home 4 papers that he did at school that they practiced writing the number 1 and wrote A in uppercase and lowercase. He told me, "It was soooo EASY!" He had fruit snacks and chocolate milk at snack time, he played on the swings, the Jungle Gym and climbed a tree at recess, and he listened to his teacher read Goldilocks and the 3 Bears. I hope everyday at school is as exciting as today!

Tautphaus Park

While (Grandma) Kathy and Angie were here to visit for a few days, we went to the zoo and to Tautphaus park to ride a few rides. These 2 pictures turned out so cute that I had to share!

Make a Mess!

It's not very often that I tell my kids that they can Make a Mess. But the other day, I felt like it was a good day to do just that. First we went outside with the easel and made Splatter Paint Pictures. I showed them how to flip the brushes and we also tried blowing bubbles that were tinted with food coloring (that didn't show up on the paper very well). After they were finished painting on paper, I told them that they could paint each other. They looked at me like I was crazy! But after I grabbed the brush and showed them I was serious, Kaleb really got into it. Cambree on the other hand started to cry. She didn't like being painted so I let Kaleb paint on me. When we used up all the paint, I had them put their shoes on and we walked over to a spot in my Mom's garden that she saves for the kids to play in the dirt. I turned the hose on and told them they could play in the MUD! Surprisingly, Cambree liked the mud better than the paint and of course Kaleb did too. We talked him out of a mud ball fight and made water-filled canals and lakes instead. At the end, he was rolling in the mud. I hosed them off and we went home so they could take a warm bath. I've never seen so much mud at the bottom of the tub!
