5 Months Old

I've been trying to post things other than pictures of my kids, so now that I've done several posts without them, I feel like I need to play catch up!

Isaac turned 5 months old on the 18th.

He is eating baby cereal well, is rolling over from belly to back, and is growing like crazy.

As Uncle Chad says, he has "thunder thighs." He loves to give big squeezy, pinchy hugs and slobbery kisses (just ask Angie - she got treated to several while they visited over the weekend.) He even tried to suck on Chad's bald head! (Oh and by the way, Angie and Chad found out today that they are getting a BOY!) They will be AMAZING parents!!

Kaleb and Cambree have decided to try changing his diaper once in a while. But if it's anything more than wet, they let us take over!

Here's my wild child ready to go with me to West Jefferson's Jr. Miss Pageant.

Whew...now I feel like I'm caught up in the blogging world. Now if only I can get caught up at my house! ;) I'm sure it would help if I would GET OFF THE COMPUTER!! LOL!

No One Ever Told Me...

I was reading Parenting magazine and came across this:

"No one ever told me that becoming a mother would at some point require me to cup my hand in front of my child's mouth in an attempt to capture as much vomit as possible and keep his clothes intact. And they certainly didn't tell me what to do with that handful once I had it."

I thought it was funny, and so true! So it gave me an idea for a post! I want you to share what being a mother (or father) has come to mean to you. Funny or serious! Simple or exaggerated!

So start your comment with "No one ever told me..." and let's hear what you've discovered along the way.

My Star

I've been really trying to keep up with this season's Dancing with the Stars. For those of you who watch the show, you know that Ty Murray is dancing this time around. About 16 years ago, while my family was at the Dodge National Circuit Finals Rodeo in Pocatello, we saw Ty Murray walk in front of the crowd at the Holt Arena. (This was back in the day when I pretended to be a cowgirl!) He was pretty new to the scene back then, but being the rodeo fans that we were, we knew exactly who we was. {I think Kellie might have even had a crush on him?!?!} Anyway back to my story...when we saw him walking, Kellie, my friend Stephanie, and I ran down to where he was at and we asked him if he would be in a picture with us. The ESPN video guy was standing right there so we asked him to take the picture and handed him our camera.

I have always cherished this picture because he's the only celebrity that I've gotten close enough to get a picture with. {Plus ya gotta love the bangs in this picture! Thanks Steph for teaching me how to do my hair like yours!! LOL!}

When I found out he was going to be on Dancing with the Stars, I hurried and called my Mom. She still loves to watch rodeos, especially bull riding, and was excited to see him on the show! She even calls in to vote! So who is your star on the show? If you don't have a favorite, just vote for Ty! Although he has dramatically improved, he still needs all the help he can get!

Friend or Foe?

Before Christmas, Cory and I got an eliptical machine. I was determined to lose my baby weight after Isaac was born. (Friend!) But I HATE to exercise! (Foe!) The first time I got on it, I was winded after only a couple minutes! (Foe!) But now I've worked up to 20 minutes and could go even longer if I really wanted to! (Friend!) I have lost about five pounds, (Friend!) and I haven't changed my eating habits much so I guess exercising isn't SOOO bad. The other day, Cambree was climbing on the machine and after months of telling her she needed to stay off of it because she would fall - she finally did. I could tell it hurt, but she was trying SO hard not to cry because she knew she wasn't supposed to be on it. The next day I discovered just how BAD that fall hurt when I was helping her get out of the tub and saw this on her leg: (FOE!!)

I have to force myself each morning to get on the machine and I will use any excuse to get out of doing it! I gladly take holidays and weekends off and any other day that I have to get ready to go somewhere. But on those many days that I am staying home, I don't have any reason not to exercise. So I try to use it as often as I can or else I feel guilty! Friend or Foe? The jury's still out on that...

Bun in the Oven!

HA! Got your attention with that Title, right?!?!
A couple of weeks ago I was asked to make rolls for a Young Women fundraiser dinner in our ward. I thought - why in the world would they ask ME to make ROLLS!! I don't make rolls! A salad, a dessert, anything but rolls. Now my Mom - SHE can make ROLLS! She makes the BEST rolls! I helped her make them once, but I didn't help with the dough mixing part, I just helped form the dough into rolls and put them on the pan! But, I wanted to help them out so I said I would bring them, but I don't really know how to make them. So they said, "That's okay, you can just BUY them!" I thought about doing that for a second, but then figured it was time for ME to learn how to MAKE rolls! So I called my Mom and got her recipe. She gave me the recipe and then told me all her little tricks that she does that is different from the directions. So I took the challenge and I MADE HOMEMADE ROLLS! They weren't nearly as difficult as I thought they would be, PLUS they turned out pretty good! NOW I know how to MAKE rolls.....just don't ask ME to make GRAVY!! (I would like to know what basic food you still struggle with making?!?! Leave me a comment!)

For All You Star Wars Fans - or just everyone who wants to see something cool!

My friend Annette planned a Star Wars themed birthday party for her son, Trace. I'm not much of a Star Wars fan, but his party was really cool. She served Yoda Soda (green sherbet & 7-up mixed), made Light Sabers out of those foam pool noodles, had a "Jedi Training Camp", and lots of other things. Oh and THE CAKE! Click on this link to see the cake she made for him!

Random Pics

Here are a bunch of pictures taken recently.

He LOVES his feet and can almost get them to his mouth!
